We are helping the poorest of the poor to secure their human birthright of clean drinking water and improved sanitation in one of the driest, harshest climates in the world- the eastern region of Rhino Camp. With the help of individual donors like you, we have dramatically changed the lives of more than 25,000 rural villagers deep in the African bush where people walk up to 7km to fetch water.
In the small rural villages of Rhino Camp, villagers lack even the basic necessities for survival. Most villagers have no choice but to drink filthy water, 97% of the population practices open defecation (there are no sanitation facilities at all), and subsistence farmers are trapped in a cycle of chronic food insecurity. Infant mortality and maternal mortality rates are among the highest on the planet. Many people die from preventable diseases. Together, we can help them to build resilience.
This project addresses water, sanitation, hygiene education to reduce disease. It also has a sustainable agriculture component to help combat the disastrous effects of climate change through irrigation and re-forestation which address malnutrition and hunger. This is a long-term project that is about creating sustainability and helping people to help themselves by providing life's most basic and elemental necessities to live fully. Join Us.
Through access to clean water, girls can attend school and women can create sustainable businesses. Improved sanitation reduces disease. Irrigation fights food insecurity and malnutrition. This project will enable sustainability and empowerment. It will increase the resilience of thousands of poor rural farmers, providing them with a chance to thrive, not just survive.
