CLIMATE CURRICULUM INTEGRATION
Transforming Uganda’s classrooms into climate resilience hubs and preparing youth to lead the future
Uganda’s classrooms face daily climate disruptions—floods, droughts, and displacement threaten learning and futures. Yet climate change remains a footnote in education. Through the Education Sector Reform & Policy Development Program (ERPDP), Humanity Horizons is embedding climate literacy, adaptation, and resilience into the national curriculum and teacher training. Partnering with NCDC, we co‑develop locally relevant, globally benchmarked modules integrated into core subjects and standalone courses. Our TEACH framework equips educators with climate‑smart, trauma‑informed pedagogy, while students become “Green Intellectuals” leading projects from tree planting to flood mapping. In refugee districts, learners design solar irrigation, climate audits, and resilience plans. Humanity Horizons also advocates that Climate Change and Entrepreneurship be examinable in Uganda’s national examinations, ensuring relevance, accountability, and future readiness. Schools become resilience hubs, teachers gain confidence, and youth lead change. The models are proven—what’s needed now is scale, investment, and shared leadership.
